An introduction to the purpose, regulation and structure of superannuation products in Australia together with an overview and analysis of relevant trust law and key pieces of superannuation, financial services and superannuation taxation legislation and policy in Australia, focusing upon the role of superannuation in Australia in wealth creation and its interaction with other savings strategies including consideration of current and future superannuation policy and regulation, the different types of funds and their products, structure and management, the duties and obligations of trustees and the resolution of complaints. The course seeks to develop students¿ ability to articulate clearly and coherently the legal and policy issues in relation to superannuation law, way in which superannuation can be accumulated and taken, formulate and investigate problems, innovate and suggest reform improvements in relation to the law.
