Course description

To provide an overview of the nature of journalism and its practice and to offer a framework in which the output of journalism (in an Australian context) may be practised, examined and reviewed. At the outset students should be aware that this course adopts as a fundamental underpinning that journalism is a vital plank in the platform of democracy. At the same time, the thrust of the program will be to provide participants with the basic skills and knowledge on which to establish professional careers in journalism.
