Course description
NOT OFFERED IN 2010. Students requiring this course for the Bachelor of Human Services should enrol in MGTS1601 (Ipswich) or SWSP2001(St Lucia) This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts in sociology and social geography which are necessary for professional practice in the human services. The course will examine such topics as social diversity and social inequality, poverty and social exclusion, deviance and conformity, health and disability, and the social constructions of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, culture, class, childhood, youth and old age.
