Course description
WILL BE OFFERED FOR THE FINAL TIME IN 2010
An introduction to academic skills and to the process of learning to be a human services professional. Students will be introduced to the core skills they require in order to succeed at university and in their professional careers. These include understanding the nature of university learning and professional development; managing competing priorities and working smarter; making the most of lectures and tutorials; developing research skills; writing essays and reports and managing referencing; working in groups; presenting your ideas and preparing for exams. These topics will be introduced through exercises and cases relating to the field of human services and will be presented as both academic and professional skills.
