Course description

This course involves a combination of theoretical and action learning activities to equip clinicians to develop educational experiences and assessment approaches suitable for the continuing education and training of the clinical workforce. As well as covering conventional educational theory and practice, this course specifically addresses the evidence base and practice related to improving clinical performance and practice as part of translating evidence into practice or clinical quaility improvement. Students will be exposed to case material challenging them to critically appraise traditional professional development interventions based on current evidence of efficacy in term of clinical performance. Students will be introduced to action learning techniques and required to apply their learnings in their own practice as clinical educators seeking to have an educational intervention accredited by a professional body.
