Course description
Continuous quality improvement is a process that requires a structured approach. This course introduces the student to a project managment model that utilises the phases of the Plan-Do-Study- Act (PDSDA) cycle to ensure that the clinician can effectively plan,implement and review quality improvement activiites in the workplace. Furthermore, it examines the why and what of measurement for patient safety and clinical performance. The participant will learn how to identify the issue requiring measurement, choosing an appropriate measurement strategy, and will be introduced to the implementation of appropriate tools and evaluating outcomes. At the end of this process the clinician will have the knowledge and skills to apply and evaluate measurement processes on an individual and organisational level.
