Course description
A history of Japan from the Tokugawa period (1600+) until today, explaining the socio-economic foundations leading to modernization, expansion, ultra-nationalist militarism & defeat in 1945, & exploring attempts to dissent against the perpetuation of an 'official interpretation of government actions'. This course may not run if there are fewer than 20 enrolments.
