Course description

Not offered in 2012 This course approaches French to English translation from a practical and methodological perspective rather than from a purely theoretical one. French source texts from a wide range of genres (journalistic, scientific, business, literary, etc) and Francophone countries will be studied and discussed in relation to key translation issues. Students will gain basic knowledge of the translation profession and of translation-specific vocabulary in English and French while independently and collaboratively completing translation exercises.
