Course description
Students will be introduced to quantitative methods for describing and solving geological problems. They will learn about efficient methods to represent geological data and about data analysis techniques, such as regression and filtering, for interpreting data. Students will be introduced to forward modelling as tool to describe and better understand geological processes and their impact on the Earth. They will learn to apply a high level programming language to visualise geological data, to implement data analysis procedures and to study the behaviour of forward models through the usage of numerical schemes.
