Course description

Not offered 2010 This course prepares students to become teachers in the Key Learning Area of Studies of Society and Environment in the primary school. It includes studies of the purposes of teaching in SOSE; the elements of SOSE curriculum and how they are used in planning for teaching and learning in the area; and basic teaching strategies appropriate to teaching key aspects of the subject. Skills are developed in preparing learning activities and resources, lesson planning, and designing extended units of study for diverse student groups. The implications of, and the opportunities provided by, essential learnings and standards and school based assessment are also explored.
