Course description
This course provides access to and opportunity for student engagement in a global context. This project will provide participating students a global learning experience to learn about and experience in teaching and learning experience in a foreign country. The experience of being housed on a foreign university campus, interacting with colleagues, visiting a variety of educational institutions and sites, and engaging in discussions with professional networks will help our students to not only learn about the host country culture but to develop their intercultural competence, demonstrating the ability to work constructively with people of all backgrounds and orientations and understanding and respecting cultural issues. Visiting partner schools and tertiary institutions will allow students to view the variety of schooling practices and be engaged in discussions around school structures and policies for curriculum development, assessment, behaviour management, instructional pedagogies, and differentiated instruction. They will also visit heritage sites to develop a deeper understanding of the culture. The course is run through workshops and a field immersion abroad.
