Course description
This course will introduce students to theory and concepts of human development, particularly as relevant to childhood and adolescence. Students will explore the implications of development for teachers, teaching and learning. Additionally this course will explore contemporary youth issues and culture from a number of perspectives including: public perceptions of young people incorporating media representations and extant public attitudes; relevant literature and current theories of development; and first hand experiences with young people in a variety of settings and contexts. This will provide an important foundation for teaching in the primary and middle years of schooling.
