Teaching Foundations introduces key principles of effective learning and teaching in higher education. It is designed for UQ staff who are new to teaching at UQ or higher education more broadly and want to develop their teaching careers. The course ensures that new educators or educators new to UQ understand what constitutes effective teaching and learning at UQ. This introductory program helps participants build essential teaching skills, create supportive learning environments, and enhance student engagement. It balances theory and practice, exploring foundational learning theories while providing opportunities to apply them. Assessment tasks enable participants to develop an e-portfolio that showcases teaching practice. Successful completion of assessment tasks will result in recognition as an HEA Associate Fellow - an international accreditation that can be used to evidence foundational teaching experience.
