Course description
This seminar-based course surveys theatre history from the perspective of tragedy. Students will read a series of plays from several points throughout theatre history, attend at least one live production in Brisbane (for which they should budget ~$25), and read theoretical material pertaining to tragedy. They will devise an essay topic and present some of their research to the class orally. The course is designed to complete students' understanding of theatre, introduce them to a more sustained use of theory, and help them focus their research skills.
