Course description
This course allows students to translate community and public health nutrition theory into practice. It will provide students with a placement experience to develop the professional knowledge and skills required for nutrition and dietetic practice across a range of community and public health settings. Placements are undertaken in pairs or groups in an organisational setting (e.g., health, welfare, research, not-for-profit). Students will be exposed to elements of planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs, stakeholder engagement and science communication. Students will apply contemporary behaviour change theories, engage in co-design, stakeholder engagement, science communication and collaborative learning within a community or public health setting. This course will explore quality management principles with a professional entrepreneurial approach to public health and community nutrition. Students will gain confidence in promoting health services to support culturally appropriate and equitable health outcomes. This course allows students to undertake 20 days of professional practice.
