Course description

This course introduces students to a range of specialist dental disciplines expanding their breadth of their clinical knowledge, skills and understanding beyond those needed for the delivery of general dental care. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, participants will explore the multifaceted aspects of specialist disciplines in procedures related to dentate, partially dentate and completely edentulous patients. By the completion of this course, students should be able to apply knowledge of selection and use of instruments, laboratory and clinical materials/medicaments essential for comprehensive patient care. Each week students will undertake competency building activities such as lectures, seminars, problem-based learning, self-directed activities and pre-clinical simulation exercises.
