Course description

Not offered 2011

This course focuses on changing dispute resolution trends in the criminal area and examines more closely the role of victims and offenders. An analysis of the current justice system/s and underlying assumptions, as well as the assumption involved in the alternatives, such as 'restorative' or 'transformative' systems, is undertaken. The course traces the development of victim/offender mediation and the newer model known as conferencing, both in Australia and overseas. A particular focus is on the latest programs within Australia.
