Course description

In this course, students are provided with an overview of family law. Designed specifically for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners, the course assumes no prior legal training or knowledge of law, but does assume some basic understanding of governmental and political processes. Students are provided with an introduction to legal processes and legal research and an overview of the Family Law Act 1975. The course will be conducted in a three-day intensive block of classes (9 am-5 pm) followed by a one-day class approximately six weeks later during which students will present their research-in-progress.
