Course description
Introduction to the molecular & immunological tools used in plant disease, pest & weed diagnosis & identification. This includes a brief introduction to nucleic acid & protein based technologies, discussion of the relevance to population & diversity studies, sampling strategies & quarantine implications. The lab component will allow the development of skills in nucleic acid extraction, PCR & hybridisation techniques, sequencing & sequence analysis & the bases of serological techniques.
