Course description
This course is not offered in 2011.
This course provides an advanced level overview of material culture studies. Topics considered include cross-cultural and comparative perspectives on objects, their uses and meanings, and their role in mediating human social and environmental relationships in a variety of contexts. The course is problem-oriented in approach, and provides students with an opportunity to pursue their learning and professional development objectives through a combination of orientational lectures and readings, seminars, and research projects involving the Anthropology Museum and its collections and exhibits. ANTH7040 will be offered in the Winter mid-semester break (30th June - 11th July - daily, 1-5pm).
