Course description
This course will integrate welfare-related knowledge that animal and veterinary bioscience students have previously obtained in the fields of biochemistry, physiology, veterinary anatomy and reproduction and professional ethics. It will enable students to appraise welfare in animal industries, in particular farms, as well as in companion and wild animal settings. It will introduce them to the key role of behavioural analysis in welfare assessment. It will enable them to make ethical decisions based on standard methods for ethical reasoning, exposing them to hypothetical situations in which they will be required to make judgements on animal management.
