Course description
NOT 2011 Comprises study of selected plays from both Greek & Roman tragedy & comedy. Greek Tragedy will include such plays as Aeschylus' Oresteia, Sophocles' Oedipus Rex & Euripides' later tragedies; attention will also be paid to the tragedies of Seneca, selections from both the old Comedy of Aristophanes & the New Comedy of Menander, Plautus & Terence. Students will not be required to produce or act in plays, but attention will be paid to the plays as performance texts.
